Artists in Brief

Tricia Taylor

Patricia Taylor was a professional Opera singer who sang extensively with Opera Companies and in concert throughout Europe, Britain and Israel, as well as recording frequently for the BBC. She now enjoys a fruitful singing teaching practice.

She took up painting in 2008, studying with Richard Price.  She has exhibited several times at Upton House in the 'Gallery Upstairs' and is now a member of PDAS.  She has exhibited with them and shown in their biennial exhibition.

In 2013 she exhibited at the Dorset Arts and Crafts week and was awarded the Dorset Landscape/Seascape Artist of the Year and was amused to be awarded a cup, the like of which she never received in her 25 years as an International singer!

Mike Preen

After 41 years of teaching in the UK and abroad and since retiring and relocating to Bournemouth, Mike has concentrated upon his main artistic pursuits of illustration, calligraphy and ceramics.  His work is inspired by his interests in medieval manuscripts and natural form.

Pam Maxey

For the past 20 years Pam has been learning to ride, it's been a slow process!  During this time she has found herself irresistibly drawn to the beautiful Purbeck countryside, the horses, the dogs, the wildlife and the friendships she has made.  These relationships inform and inspire her paintings and pottery.

Pam paints in oils producing images in a photo-realistic style of wildlife and treasured pets.  She is particularly interested in horses and is currently developing work which aims to capture a 'snapshot' moment of the working relationships between horse and human.

Pam creates delicate ceramic vessels, also inspired by nature, from slip cast bone china using a variety of surface techniques to create functional and decorative vessels.
